Newton Symphony Orchestra

Newton Symphony Orchestra

The Newton Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1965 with a mission to provide Newton and surrounding communities with fine music at affordable prices, close to home; to provide area volunteer musicians the opportunity to maintain and develop their skills; and to enhance music appreciation, promote cross-cultural understanding, and build community through the common language of music.  Its season runs from late October/early November to May, with four subscription concerts, a Family Concert in February, and other special events.  The NSO also sponsors the annual Lasker Young Soloist Competition, open to Newton youth; the winner earns a chance to perform at the Family Concert.
With an easily accessible (and plenty of free parking) performance home at Rashi Auditorium in Newton Corner (Mass Pike Exit 17), the Newton Symphony Orchestra affords a superb alternative to the hassles of a trip into downtown Boston.
