Newton Singers ChorusNewton Singers Chorus
The Newton Singers Chorus is a community chorus sponsored by the Newton Parks and Recreation Commission. It was initiated 14 years ago by two local women who really enjoyed singing and felt Newton would benefit from having a fun, relaxed choral group. It has evolved into a chorus for people who want to have fun, learn choral techniques in a low-pressure environment and perform once a year for friends, family and the community. Its repertoire includes jazz, show tunes, madrigals, folk songs and more. Conductor Ben Youngman really enjoys helping the group make great music and welcomes tenors, basses, altos and sopranos to the chorus. There are no auditions - the only requirement is being able to carry a tune and sing on pitch! Ability to read music is a plus, but not required.
